What can IDP do for me?

IDP will offer you academic counselling on programs and institutions in Canada and help you with the entire application and student visa process. Your counsellor will customize checklists for you every step of the way and track all your application, fee payments and visa deadlines. In addition, your counselor will provide a detailed pre-departure orientation to prepare you for life as a student in the Canada.

Will I get a dedicated counsellor for the entire application and visa process?

Yes, once you sign up with IDP, you will be assigned a dedicated counsellor who would guide you through the entire process.

What are the requirements to apply for a Bachelor’s Degree in the Canada?

The minimum admissions requirement is successful completion of the Year 12 examination from a recognized board. Some institutions may require you to take an admission tests like SAT and/or IELTS.

What are the admissions req. to apply for a Master’s and Ph.D. degree program in the Canada?

The minimum admissions requirement is successful completion of a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university. Some universities may require you to take an admission tests like GRE, GMAT or IELTS depending on the program you apply for.

For admissions to a Ph.D. program in addition to completing a Master’s degree you need to demonstrate evidence of research acumen and may need to write a GRE subject in addition to a GRE general and IELTS.

What admissionss tests do I need to take for program entry in Canadian institutions?

Admissions test requirements vary from institution to institution. Most institutions request for an English proficiency test like the IELTS. The other standardized tests that you may have to take like GMAT, GRE, SAT and the like are dependant on the program you are applying for.

Which is the best institution for me?

There is no official ranking of Canadian institutions. Institutions are judged based on their accreditation status. The best institution for you is one that matches your academic profile and meets your study, career and life goals.

What are the tuition and living costs in Canada?

Tuition fees generally range from CAD 6,000 to CAD 25,000 per year for undergraduate program and CAD 6,500 to CAD 32,000 per year for graduate program. Living costs are variable from about less than CAD 4,800 to CAD 9,600 per year depending on the city you live in, accommodation preferences, lifestyle and ancillary expenses such as books, clothing, entertainment, travel cost and the like.

Can I get financial aid to study in Canada?

Yes, Canadian institutions offer financial aid in the form of scholarships, bursaries, on campus jobs, teaching assistantships, administrative assistantships, research assistantships, internships and the like. The amount varies from level of study as well as program type. Financial aid offerings are competitive and students need to demonstrate exceptional academic and extracurricular skills.

When can I commence studies in Canada?

The major intakes are Fall (September) and Spring (January) but many institutions have Summer intakes (May or June) as well.

When should I begin the application process for a given intake?

For universities it is recommended that you begin your application process at least 12 - 15 months in advance of the intake, to allow for sufficient preparation time and time to study for the standard admission tests. For colleges it is recommended that you begin your application process at least 4 - 6 months in advance of the intake, to allow for sufficient preparation time and time to study for the standard admission tests.

Does IDP have any special relationship with Canadian institutions?

Yes, IDP has signed up with certain Canadian institutions which will certainly give you the benefit of better turnaround time for application assessment and other requirements.

Will IDP help me with pre departure formalities?

Yes, IDP will organize a pre-departure orientation program which will help you transition to life as a student in Canada and address topics ranging from cross-cultural issues to ticketing, medical insurance, foreign exchange and the likes.
